Final thoughts and acknowledgements
If you have read this far, you have done one of the things this Companion was written to make easier — sat with the breadth of the Minster’s life for long enough to begin to make sense of it. The breadth was, and is, the point.
The building you have read about is precious; it always needs the next round of careful conservation. But the centre of weight is in the people who gather here, week by week, to worship and serve. That is what the Minster, in the end, is.
Wherever you go from here — into a service, into a quiet conversation, into a house group, into the Eco Church group, into prayer in St Katherine’s Chapel, into nothing at all for now — you are very welcome. Please come again, and please do let us know if there is something we should add, change or correct.
With love,
The Minster Companion editorial team
Thanks
This Companion has been shaped by — and built on the existing work of — many hands. Particular thanks to the clergy team (Jonathan, Eileen, Charlie, Allan and Chris); to the staff team (Robert, Ben, Kate, Lauren, Jane, Meg, Libby, Paul and Roberto); to the lay ministers (David, Catherine, Jane and James); to Mervyn King, our webmaster, for the visual assets we have drawn on; to Chris Chipperton, Treasurer, for his eye over the giving section; and most of all to the great community of volunteers — welcomers, sides team, choristers, bell ringers, gardeners, prayer ministry team, Eco Church group, hospitality team, sacristans and many more — without whom there would be no Minster community as we know it.
A reminder. The Minster website at beverleyminster.org.uk is the primary source of up-to-date information about services, events and what is on this week. The Companion is a supplementary read alongside it.
